A Bar Mitzvah is when a boy becomes a man. This is a traditional Jewish celebration. 1 8 ounce package of cream cheese
1 Cup of butter
¼ Cup of sugar
2 Cups of flour
Filling
¼ Cup plus 2 tablespoons of sugar
¼ Cup of brown sugar
½ Teaspoon cinnamon
¾ Cup of chopped gold raisins
1 Cup of finely chopped walnuts
½ Cup of apricot preserves, slightly heated
Topping
1 Cup of sugar
2 Teaspoons of cinnamon
Mix the cream cheese and butter until well blended. Add the sugar and flour. Separate the dough into 2 balls and refrigerate for 2 hours. On a lightly floured surface, roll 1 piece of dough into a 1/8 inch thick rectangle. Spread a thin layer of preserves on top of the dough. Mix the sugars, cinnamon, raisins, and walnuts together. Sprinkle half of the mixture on top of the preserves. Roll into a log and wrap in plastic. Repeat with the second piece of dough. Refrigerate for 1 hour. Slice the logs crosswise into ¼ inch thick cookies. Mix the cinnamon and sugar topping and coat each cookie with it. Bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes.
