Ideas for
Earth Day Centerpieces
Earth Day homemade centerpieces can easily be made from recycle materials found around the home. For an Earth Day centerpiece, have children participate in making an Earth globe. Place sheets of paper around a basketball, or even a beach ball, of drawings of the Earth. Draw the earth first before placing the sheets of paper on the chosen balls. Have each child draw a different section of the Earth for an interesting perspective of the earth from above. Ensure to recycle all the paper used once the project is done and it is time to play with the sports balls later. Using the paper mache to cover a ball and painting earth works well too. Ensure to apply at least 3 layers of paper to ensure the paper mache is firm enough so it does it collapse. Another way to create Earth is by taking wax paper, coffee filters, and food coloring. Draw a picture of the earth on the coffee filter by using drops of blue and green food coloring. Add one drop at a time and watch the colors spread shaping the Earth. Earth Day sun catchers, which can be made for just about in celebration, occasion or as a decorative element are simple to make as well.
Use the power of the empty milk carton to create cool, cut looking Earth day homemade centerpieces. Make animals, TV characters, and anything else children love. Supply them with crayons, paint, felt buttons, glitters, construction paper, and general arts & crafts materials. Use old milk cartons for bird feeders as well.
