Ideas for Flag Day Centerpieces

Place American Flags inside a red, white, and blue painted tin bucket for a handmade Flag Day centerpiece. Tie a ribbon around the bucket and place Styrofoam inside the bucket to hold the American Flags in place. To create some additional flare, use red, white, and blue beads or stones over the Styrofoam around the flagsticks. Pinwheels can easily be made from colored paper attached to sticks. Use pinwheels and tie patriotic balloons around a pot plant filled with red and white flowers and bows. Since this is Flag day, the more flags that can be used in the centerpiece the better.

Adults should not be the only ones who make cool handmade Flag Day centerpieces. Let the children become involved in the Flag day centerpiece making process by making their own. Allow children to paint their own pots with red, white and blue colors. Give them acrylic paint and let them create their very own patriotic centerpiece. Supply the kids with stencils for those children who want a neat look – younger children will just paint and not worry about if the star is geometrically correct surely. Place a Styrofoam piece inside the pot. Cut out stars from construction paper and tape to craft sticks and insert in the Styrofoam. Use curling ribbon or candy to cover the Styrofoam.
