Labor Day Theme Party. Serve sweet and sassy turkey burgers for a healthy alternative to hamburgers, but still full of flavor.
Making sweet and sassy turkey burgers is easy using this recipe.
6 turkey bacon strips, diced and cooked
1/4 cup dried cranberries
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1 teaspoon rubbed sage
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1-1/4 pounds extra-lean ground turkey
1 Italian turkey sausage link, casing removed
3 slices part-skim mozzarella cheese, cut in half
6 onion rolls, split
6 tablespoons jellied cranberry sauce
6 tablespoons fat-free mayonnaise
6 lettuce leaves
In a large bowl mix the bacon strips, cranberries, maple syrup, sage, and pepper. Crumble the ground turkey and sausage and mix well. Shape the mixture into 6 patties. Grill the burgers for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the juices run clear. Top with the cheese and cook for 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted. Toast the rolls for 1-2 minutes on the grill, or until the bottoms are golden brown. Spread cranberry sauce and mayonnaise on the top roll. Place the burger and a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun and place the top bun in place to serve.
This recipe makes six burgers, but you can easily make more by increasing the ingredients by the number of burgers that you will need. These turkey burgers are so full of flavor that nobody will mind that they were not made with ground beef.
Labor Day Party Supplies with a Theme Party
A Labor Day Party is the perfect idea for a day to relax and celebrate. Design the party with Labor Day party supplies for a cool atmosphere themed. Invitations for this party could have a barbeque, a back yard scene, or a bucket of beer on them. As your Labor Day Party is a way to honor workers for all their efforts, make your outdoor area a relaxing atmosphere with hammocks, comfortable lounge chairs, lawn blankets and lots of pillows. In addition to the usual patriotic decorations, you could add some fall colors like rich oranges, gelds and yellows. You could also add tike torches and twinkle lights if the party goes into the evening. If you are having a larger bash, these activities would be a blast: divide the group into two teams for a game of flag football, softball or volleyball. Smaller groups could play bocce, horseshoes or croquet. Add some ideas like Kwanzaa Recipe for more awesome celebration. Say goodbye to summer with the season's bounty of fresh fruits and vegetables: sun-kissed tomatoes, sweet corn and juicy berries. For the hardier appetites try lobster, steaks, ribs, chicken and all the side salads and dishes. Dessert could be messy but delicious if you have a make-your-own sundae bar. And last but not least, you could serve fruit cobbler or a berry crisp.
