After adding all of the eggs you will need to combine the mixtures and once again, mix thoroughly. Then add about 1 cup of buttermilk and then using an electric mixer mix thoroughly until very smooth. Finally, spread the cake batter into the baking dish and bake the Patriotic cake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes. This cake should be decorated with white icing and then decorated with either candies or frosting to give it the appearance of a flag or add a variety of miniature flags all over the cake.
