Ideas for
Presidents Day Centerpieces
Making a Presidents Day homemade centerpiece is tons of fun and very simple to do. Who does not love the taste of macaroni & cheese? This dish is simple but oh so tasty. Not only can macaroni be used to fill our bellies but also please are eyes with great presidential macaroni artwork. Those looking to honor American Presidents in some fashion may consider doing a framed macaroni art project. Give the macaroni art project some patriotic flare by dying the macaroni red, white, and blue. Have children select the picture they would like to make. Since this is Presidents Day, select a few portraits of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln or other. Once the picture is selected then the macaroni art Presidents Day centerpiece can begin. Place the dyed macaroni on top of the picture being created – this will ensure the picture an accurate depiction of the American President or image. To dye the macaroni or other pasta add about 1 tsp. rubbing alcohol to each bag of macaroni and several drops of food coloring desired to each bag. Shake the bag well to ensure the food coloring covers all of the macaroni. Let the macaroni sit in the bag for 15-20 minutes and then lay it out to dry over night. The next day begin gluing the macaroni or other pasta to the picture. Allow the picture to dry for a few hours and then frame it. Why just frame the picture with a basic frame when painting red, white, and blue is possible.
