Ideas for Sugar and Spice Centerpieces

A homemade sugar and spice centerpiece should have all the wholesomeness of the two ingredients themselves. Begin with a large bowl or display plate. You will be adding all different types of sweets and spices to it to create a delectable centerpiece for your party.

Sugar cubes might line the bottom and sides of the bowl to begin your handmade sugar and spice centerpiece. They can even be dabbed with a bit of food coloring to make it interesting and colorful. For more sweetness, there are honey sticks that can be strategically placed within the other items that will be in your display. Cinnamon sticks play the part of both sweetness and spice, so they should also be in the arrangement.

Be sure that your homemade sugar and spice centerpiece is creative. Gather as many fresh herbs to place into the centerpiece, as if they were growing out of it. You may even want to use florist stems that hold single flowers in water, if you can hide them within the arrangement. Try filling in the spaces with lace, or raffia. Some dried herbs that are still on the twigs might also work, like thyme, rosemary, and dill. Use interesting shapes, as well, such as star anise and whole cloves. Cardamom pods might be placed around the arrangement, and these, as well as other spices may be available in more than one color. And don’t forget the peppercorns. These come in a wide variety of colors and will really make your centerpiece come alive.

If your handmade sugar and spice arrangement is superb, your guests may want to try their hands at it themselves for smaller decoration arrangements in their kitchens.
